Drugs and alcohol make us do all sorts of crazy, stupid things. Whom amongst us hasn’t gotten a little too stoned and left food in the oven, or had a bit too much to drink and sent a text to someone you really shouldn’t have?

Meth is no different. Smoke enough meth, and you’ll find yourself in places you’d never otherwise go doing things you’d never do with a sober mind. If you’re lucky, you’re able to exit the situation with all your teeth, but if you’re unlucky, you might end up like Redditor joshsexxy, whose meth-addled decision to pee into his humidifier led to him filling his room with urine fog.

For context, on Reddit, joshsexxy made a post simply titled “This May Sound Extremely Dumb, But I Peed in My Humidifier After Smoking Meth” (he’s pretty straightforward). In the post, he details how he peed into his humidifier while on meth, then plugged it in the next day (while also on meth). To his surprise, his room quickly filled with pee vapor, which he promptly illuminated with laser lights. In his post, he speculated that maybe, *maybe* doing this got him a little higher than meth alone.

Now, joshsexxy is on the opposite side of that journey and says he doesn’t plan on doing it again — but I still had some questions for him. And so, I talked to him about what it’s like to breathe in your own meth pee.

To start, I’d love to ask about whether you’d say it actually affected your high. Did it bring you up more? Add a new side to it?

So it’s kinda hard to tell if or to what degree it affected my high. Right when it was running, I did smoke a little bit, but it didn’t do much for me. I didn’t have a pipe so I used a one hitter to try and hot rail. I got a couple mid hits, then I noticed my projector had laser beams, ultra clear filling my room up. I didn’t notice or even think I was high at the moment, but looking back I took like 20 videos all from different angles and different camera settings, so I guess I was pretty geeked out. I felt pretty tired after that, though, and almost fell asleep, but I sat up and guess I got a bit distracted the next 12 hours.

Hard to say how it was, or if it was different, but it all kinda happened accidently. I think the actual method could work if I had actually planned on testing out the high, maybe if I had a diffuser blowing directly in my face as opposed to breathing it after it’s diffused around my room and mixed with the air.

Do you remember it having any distinct smell? Like, did it smell like your room was being hot boxed with piss, or was it something else entirely?

Yes. It distinctly smelled like urine. At first it wasn’t overwhelming, but once it got really cloudy, it was pretty strong. Once I turned the humidifier off and put my fan on, though, the scent dissipated rapidly. Although later on I didn’t smell anything residual until I took one step and in that one spot I could smell it very strongly. I moved my head back an inch, and it was gone again. I couldn’t figure out what it was that collected it, but it was definitely lingering in a very small space.

It wasn’t 100 percent clear in your post — did you remember that you had peed in your humidifier? Or was this accidental?

Yes, I was well aware I had. Even though I didn’t have a predetermined intent to hotbox my room with it, once it started to run just from plugging it in on automatic settings, I think maybe a part of me was curious of the outcome so I figured I’d just let it run for a few minutes while I got my room comfy. I figured it wouldn’t hurt, and I honestly thought the scent wasn’t even going to be a factor.

So, it wasn’t exactly an accident, but I also wasn’t trying to conduct an experiment either. Finding an enclosed and tinted tank to piss in and dump/clean it out was my original intent, but I had no idea it would end up producing such dense and heavy vapor that built up like that. Normally water mist dissipates a few feet into the air, whereas this stuck in the air, kinda resembling a thick fog.

You said in your post that you originally peed in it because you didn’t want anyone to see you. Not sure what your living situation is like, but did anyone around you make any comments about the fog/smell?

I was mostly worried about my appearance. My pupils were quite dilated, and I didn’t want to risk any suspicion.

No one noticed the smell at all. For the most part, it went away except that one area. I read vinegar gets rid of the smell of pee, so my room had that smell throughout the day, which my dad noticed when he came in. But any residual urine scent is completely gone by now.

Any chance at all you’ll do this again to see the kind of high it gives you?

No, I don’t think I’d ever try it again. I don’t think it’s really worth it to make your environment kind of filthy for an effect that I’m not even certain of. I do think it’s an interesting concept though, so maybe I’d dig into the science of it just out of curiosity. One guy commented on my post saying they were likely to attempt it themselves and test it out, so maybe I’ll hear from them.
