He’s got a point.

Ever since Trump’s first election, the abstract concept of “politics” has found its way into everyday life. We used to be content to let our celebrities be just stupid and famous — now, everyone who’s ever been on a Netflix show has to answer interview questions about the war in Ukraine, and the dumbass celebs of yore are all wearing glasses and talking about how much whatever political issue of the day “disgusts” them. And don’t get me started on how shitty comedy has become!

In part, this is due to the ridiculous idea that comedians are “modern day philosophers.” Now that people are a little too comfortable with that idea, the great Bill Burr is here to bring us back down to Earth by reminding us that comedians are there to make comedy, not just “have opinions.”
