If someone is trying to off themselves, you’ve gotta be really, really careful about how you approach them. Even the slightest wrong move could make them just pull through with the act — which, obviously, is the exact opposite of what you want to happen.

In general, the police use two different approaches to stopping someone from taking their own life: talking them out of it and, of course, physically stopping them from doing so. Both of these approaches require nuance — or, in the case of this cop, cat-like reflexes.
