But for most of us, lightning strikes aren’t something we need to actually worry about. There are steps you should follow if you think you’re in a situation where you’re at risk, but overall, your risk of getting struck by lightning is pretty low.

That said, “low” is not “zero,” and this couple was (nearly) in for a shock when they entered their car and narrowly missed becoming electrified.
