A shortcut that could cut your life short.

Google Maps isn’t always as intuitive as it might initially appear. We’ve all been in a situation where a road narrowly splits and the map is unclear about which way you’re supposed to go — and as a result, you get stuck driving for 15 minutes in the opposite direction.

That sucks, but all things considered, it’s not the worst thing that could happen. Instead, you could drive your car off a bridge. See? Silver linings everywhere.

In Indonesia, a man was following Google Maps when it (allegedly) rerouted him. Confused, he just continued onwards — and fell 20 feet off an unfinished bridge.

Somehow, he survived, though he says he’s concerned that his insurance won’t cover the damage done to the car. Concerning that, I think his judgement is sound.
