India Has Developed a Laser Gun
Oh god.
One sci-fi innovation that’s always seemed *just* out of reach is laser guns. Whether it’s because the technology wasn’t there yet, or because it’s just kinda stupid to create given that we have bullets, scientists have avoided developing the damn things.
Well, until now, that is. Scientists in India recently debuted what they’re calling Sahastra Shakti — “a 30KW laser beam capable of neutralising drones, UAVs, and static targets,” per the Economic Times.
While they’ve already shown how effective it can be against drones, the team behind it says they’re not quite done yet. According to the Economic Times, they’re also “developing versions with 50-100KW power to counter cruise missiles, jets and even artillery shells.”
Pretty scary!
