TikTokers Are Now Lusting After North Korea
Users say that social media has been overrun with “North Korean propaganda.”
Want to vacation in North Korea? Well, if you’re from the U.S., you can’t, as your passport isn’t valid there anymore. But that hasn’t stopped some TikTokers from talking about how much they want to!
After seeing the many mistruths of defectors like Yeonmi Park, some have taken it upon themselves to learn more about the country in hopes of finding out what it’s really like.
Some of this is good; for example, learning about North Korea’s famine and the United States’ role in perpetuating it can give you a better understanding of American foreign policy and why the DPRK is the way it is today.
However, some people see the cracks in the facade and come to believe that everything that people say about North Korea is propaganda — and now, they’re taking to social media to extol the virtues of the country.
